Katharine Cameron RWS RE 1874-1965

Overview

Katharine Cameron was the sister of the artist Sir David Young Cameron, and like her brother, she also studied at Glasgow School of Art and later at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. She is best known flower and landscape paintings, etchings and book illustrations.

 

Cameron was associated with the Glasgow Style that emerged through a group of female artists who termed themselves 'The Immortals' at Glasgow School of Art in the late 19th century. She exhibited widely, including at the Royal Scottish Academy and The Fine Art Society, and was a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society.
