1869 - 1941
Robert Burns was born in Edinburgh and studied in both London and Paris. He worked in Edinburgh as a decorative artist and designer in the art nouveau style and was Head of Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art between 1908 and 1919. One of his most well-known projects was for Crawford's Tea Rooms at Princes Street, Edinburgh; a further project, finally fulfilled later on in his career, was an illustrated volume of Scottish ballads.
